'OORIGINS'
COLOURED PENCIL DRAWING SERIES
● In this series I am exploring the fascinating world of birds and their place of origin - the egg, studied scientifically through oology, and experienced aesthetically, intellectually and emotionally - through my drawings.
● This series is opening my eyes to the incredible variety and individualism of eggshell colours and patterns in various species. Combining the bird and its eggshell of 'oorigin' in one image creates some interesting contrasts and relationships, presenting a harmonious combination of the realistic and the abstract, and reflecting the fuller picture of birds' captivating, multifaceted nature

'THE SECRETS OF THE SNOW'
SERIES
● Above is my series of three drawings of the elusive wildlife I was lucky to observe during snowfall in my local nature reserve.
● The snow blanket and freezing temperatures made food harder to find and forced even the shyest and rarely seen creatures to venture out into conspicuous territories. The resulting close-up encounters I had with 'the secrets of the snow' - the red fox, the woodcock and the rare firecrest inspired me to create these detailed drawings.
● I aimed to capture this thrilling and awe-inspiring feeling of connection to nature's wilderness here. The intricate details I have hidden in each piece are revealed upon closer inspection - the more you look at my artworks, the more you see.
● My drawings also showcase the different stages of winter - from the thick snowfall that the woodcock is wandering through, to the sun-stricken snow dunes where the fox is leaving its trail and to the nearly melted snow on the twigs and branches of the tiny firecrest's maze-like world. This creates an animation-like feel as winter is transitioning into spring as the eye travels from one artwork to the next.

''NATURAL FORMS''

Above is my series of ten drawings and paintings of various natural forms.
Many of these artworks are observational.
I kept the colours natural or focused on the monochrome depictions of the subjects where the form or light were particularly interesting. Some artworks are more realistic whilst others are more stylised to highlight certain interesting features.
