''WHAT IS CULTURE?''
SERIES
● Here is my series of 3 large-scale acrylic paintings through which I explored cultures from around the world.
● I aimed to grasp the essence of culture in its people's inner spirit, which finds expression in the outer attributes, such as the physical appearance, body decorations and clothing, the people's relationship with their natural environment and their unique traditions, activities and lifestyles, all of which are intimately interconnected.
● This resulting harmonious balance of indigenous cultures is very fragile, however. This issue is addressed through the reducing size of each new artwork in my series and the looming danger of globalisation and urbanisation depicted in the ''The Living Bridges of Meghalaya''
● Ultimately though, my artworks are a testament to the wonder of indigenous cultures and how progress in one direction should not cause degradation in another.

''EMOTIONS''
SERIES
● In this series of large-scale acrylic paintings I explored and experimented with portraiture and capturing expressions of various human emotions.
● I started with a more realist painting of ''Fear'' but then connected each emotion to a certain colour to create more abstract, stylised pieces to represent the emotion rather than the face.
● The resulting dualistic realist-abstract character of these experimental pieces is further highlighted in the technique.
● I used paint very freely, texturally and expressively in the backgrounds to emphasize the emotions. The realistic faces with slight caricature elements create even more expression for the emotions.
